I have been DJing for quite some time now and I have always used a DJ facade to hide my wire setups. I have had a lot of interactions with other DJ’s and we have had this discussion and some of them are dead against using them. I personally would not want to hire a DJ for my event and see this, let alone the overkill of speakers.
In 2012 or so I decided to upgrade my facade to something a bit more elegant and with an updated look. I had done some research and came across facades that had white backgrounds, which gave you the option to light up the back of it with LED lights. I took it upon myself to fabricate my own and the results were highly to my satisfaction, with the addition of speaker scrims and LED’s you can step up your setup from ordinary to elegant.
The reason I write this post is for public awareness, that both the client and the venue appreciate the extra effort you take to make your business look professional. I had DJ’ed a Sweet 16 last weekend and manager was talking to one her employees as they passed the front of my setup and said “I like whens DJ’s use these covers, it makes it look professional” her employee replies “yeah me too, who the hell wants to see all those wires”, enough said. Higher a DJ who takes pride of their setup. Contact me for you next event 646.415.2801.
